I had previously done a post about 10 things that bother me, so I thought I would do a positive one! We all have little luxuries in life, here are some of mine:
LISTENING TO MUSIC
This is definitely number one on my list! I very rarely watch TV and I will only watch certain series, people are always baffled that I don’t ‘keep up with the Kardashians’ but reality TV just doesn’t interest me and I think that’s a good thing. Hans Zimmer, if you haven’t heard of him, your missing out! Especially if you are a blogger because his music is so soothing. My favourite song by him is here. His music makes me feel emotions, I didn’t even know existed. It is truly magical, I will forever be grateful for his talent. I went to see him in Dublin and wow is all I can say, breathtaking.
CUP OF TEA & CHOCOLATE
While this may be an obvious one, dipping chocolate into my cup of tea is one thing I just love! I always do this while watching my favourite series or film. Seem’s pretty simple, but I enjoy it. I like the little things in life. All snuggled up with tea and Milka chocolate, yummy!
GETTING MY FEET MASSAGED
Some people are grossed out by the thought of feet, me on the other hand, I love getting my feet massaged. This feels especially good after a long day of work or when I’m blogging. It relaxes my whole body and helps me sleep too! Getting my hair played with is something else I enjoy but I suppose that’s in the same category.
With being a blogger, I find it completely normal to watch YouTubers? I feel like we are the same, only I write and they film. Zoella is one of my favourites, her home decor is stunning and she always has the BEST outfits! Watching YouTubers actually gives me inspiration for my blog with ideas and themes. I find it fascinating that they share 90% of their life with the world. Just another thing I adore.
WRITING / BLOGGING
This may seem unsurprising, I had to add it to my list. I started blogging privately back in 2013 when I was 17, this was one of the most difficult times in my life and I used writing to escape. I used to write little stories but was always afraid to publish them. Blogging helps me get through my everyday life, its therapeutic to me.
BROWSING SOCIAL MEDIA
Pinterest especially, I love swiping through office designs, bedroom decor, that kinda thing? I also love Twitter it’s one of my favourite apps, you can find my Twitter account here. Instagram is also something I use a lot, you can find me here. Maybe it’s because I’m just really nosey haha!
This is also super therapeutic for me, I do shellac nails for family and friends, people constantly tell me “you always have nice nails” and it makes me feel good. I just find it rewarding and relaxing too, although I never experiment with colour that often, I usually go for electric blue or nude.
TAKING PHOTOS & EDITING
I studied photography for 3 years in college and I am so happy I did. I love capturing moments with a single button. Sure we all have phones with good cameras but nothing comes close to a DSLR, especially if you want to print your images on big scales. Depth of field is so mesmerizing to me, making one subject the center of attention is key to any good photo. I have included some of my work at the end of this post for you to see! Editing is also something I love, you can create anything!
TIDYING AND ORGANISING
Shocker I know, but tidying up is such a good way to get rid of any bad vibes around the house, making all the rooms sparkly clean makes you feel good! Did you ever play Sims? and they walk into a room full of dishes and the mood bar dramatically decreases? Well that’s me. Organising my draws, folders on my iMac, all that stuff, I loveee! Makes me feel spacious and well-managed.
GETTING A TATTOO
The whole process of getting a tattoo happens weeks maybe months before when you start planning. Planning what to get, designing it, booking it. The thrill of being on your way to the tattoo shop is amazing! It’s like Christmas when you’re a child, it’s so exciting. Sitting in the chair ready to embrace the pain, I love it! Such a nice feeling.
